Susi, who or what inspires you?
It's hard to pinpoint one thing that inspires me, as I like to find inspiration in lots of different things all around me. I know that sounds cliché but it's true.
The main thing I gravitate towards is positive energy. I admire when I see someone with a strong drive and follow their dreams and do what they love. I don't have to be in front of a legendary individual to be inspired, as long as he or she loves what they're doing, I'm inspired to be like them.
If you had to pick two athletes, dead or alive, to go kite with.
Who would they be and where would you go?
Two people I would like to kite with are Sarina Williams and Sarah Burke (because she was a friend and she passed away before we were able to kite together).
Which is the best city on earth and why?
NYC because it's everything a city should be and it's the one place where I can fully escape my 'beach' lifestyle.
Do you have your own way of life? What do you want to achieve next? Goals for 2013?
I try to live my life by the only words of wisdom left to me by my grandfather:
"It's better to regret something you did that something you didn't do".
In other words, I am the kind of person who prefers to try something and failing rather than sitting around once it's too late wondering what would have happened if…
I like to travel, explore new places, meet new people and always learn new things. I also prefer sharing my experiences with others to being on my own.
I have been a big ambassador for trying to get more females into my sport. One of my biggest achievements this year is having developed the first ever full range of women's specific kite equipment together my sponsor Cabrinha. I think this is the first big step to my ultimate goal: seeing the chicks outnumber the guys on the water!
