“SWOX is a perfect match, because you put it on and that’s it!”
Years of surfing?
I started in 2012 when I spent a year abroad in Australia. I didn’t want to let go of it but I got landlocked in Germany for 3 years after that. Two years ago I started going on occasional surftrips again, for 7 months now I’m able to fully concentrate on surfing. This time I am holding on to it!
You have been surfing since 2012, do you have a favorite surfspot?
Haven’t been everywhere, but so far the East Coast of Australia and California are my favourite spots.
Which is your favorite board?
My 9,1ft long longboard. I’m so in love with it! You can do so much on longboards, I love the variety and every time I’m in the water there’s something new I learn. It’s so much fun!! Only thing I dislike: it is soooo difficult to carry as I’m only 5,1ft small. But I rather have a hard time on land than missing out of fun in the water J
Linda, who or what inspires you?
I’m passionate about people with sparkling eyes, perfect waves, smiles, sunny places, good smelling surfwax, funny stories, cute puppies, yummy food, sunrises and sunsets, good music, warm rain, beautiful landscapes, yoga, deep talk, emotional quotes, finding the perfect avocado… I literally get passionate about so much and even little things like a smile of a busy cashier give me energy and hope. There’s too much negativity and emptiness in the world. So every time I see something that’s not like that I get inspired to be even more active, to smile even more and to live life to the fullest.
If you had to pick two surfers, dead or alive, to go surf with. Who would they be and where would you go?
Mick Fanning! I met him a few years ago in an Australian night club, didn’t recognize it was him and ask him to order something for me as I was too small to be seen behind the bar. He was so nice! Typical girls crush, I know… 😉 The second one I guess would be one of my brothers, they both think they’re better than me so I’m super motivated to prove them wrong. I don’t mind where we would go, just a nice empty spot with warm water!
Which is the best city on earth and why?
So far: Australia and California, because I just love the easy going vibe, the climate and their surf spots! But I’m open for other places as well, haven’t been everywhere but it’s on my list!
Do you have your own way of life?
I don’t have a special way, but there’s a quote I found years ago which I can’t even tell how much I love and I’m trying to live by it ever since:
“Balance is key. In everything you do. Dance all night long and practice yoga the next day. Drink wine but don’t forget your green juice. Eat chocolate when your heart wants it and kale salad when your body needs it. Wear high heels on Saturday and walk barefoot on Sunday. Live high and low. Move and stay still. Embrace all sides of who you are. Be brave and bold, spontaneous and loud and let that complement your abilities to find silence, patience, modesty and peace. Aim for balance. Make your own rules and follow your own path and don’t let anybody tell you how to live according to theirs.” (Rachel Brathen)
What do you want to achieve next? Goals for 2018?
I really want to keep living this lifestyle and I desperately want to keep on surfing. As long as I live near the ocean I’m happy, so my goal is to just stay happy. I don’t know where I’ll be and what I’ll be working, I plan to not plan too much and just go with the flow.
Is there something more you want to tell us?
Jokes, wisdoms, feedbacks, inspiration … all welcome.
The quote of question “way of life” says it all 😉
One quote about SWOX. What do you think about SWOX? How did you get to know the company?
I love the freedom of just being in the sun and water. SWOX is a perfect match, because you put it on and that’s it. No oily feeling, no need to re-apply.
